More advanced skiers might like to head off-piste with a guide to discover some of the 200 square kilometres of terrain that’s hidden away. The most famous run is, of course, the Family Streif, which snakes its way around the extremely steep part of the downhill course, before returning to the original racing track at the Seidlalm, dodging the “Hausbergkante” ridge on the incline Ganslernhang and ends up back at the usual finish. The town is largely car-free, with cobbled streets winding past brightly-coloured buildings and designer shops. The main streets are lined with hotels, shops, restaurants, bars and cafes.
